Position: Director of College Counseling
Immediate Supervisor: High School Principal
Term of Employment: Eleven month position; salary to be determined
Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position shall exhibit a strong and clear Christian testimony; a spirit of dedication, commitment, flexibility, and responsiveness; professional knowledge about the college planning process; and excellent relationship skills in communicating with high school students, parents, teachers, and college professionals.
A master’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
A minimum of three to five years experience in a related educational setting, preferably working with college-bound students, is strongly preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Counsel and advise students, parents, and teachers regarding the college planning process
• Organize and process documents for college and scholarship applications, including transcripts, recommendation letters, and test scores
• Coordinate visits of representatives from colleges and universities
• Set up and administer special programs and awards, such as DAR Good Citizen, local civic club recognitions, Summer Ventures, Governor’s School, etc.
• Organize and maintain communication network with parents and students, such as email updates and newsletters
• Coordinate and administer the testing programs for PSAT, AP (Advanced Placement), etc.
• Coordinate and administer special events and opportunities, such as the National Christian College Fair, driver’s education classes, College Planning Night for Juniors, Rising Ninth Grade Orientation and Course Selection, Financial Aid Seminar, etc.
• Coordinate awards and guest presenters for annual high school academic awards program
• Maintain professional networking relationships with personnel from other Christian schools, independent schools, and public schools
• Serve as liaison between Wesleyan Christian Academy and college and scholarship services
• Administer NCAA and NAIA compliance procedures for student athletes
• Develop master schedule for high school and individual schedules for all high school students
• Perform these and other duties as directed
