POSITION SUMMARY         
The Daytime Admissions Counselor serves as the primary contact for prospective students interested in the undergraduate day programs at Palm Beach Atlantic University. This person will be assigned a geographic territory for travel to recruit prospective students.   

Administrative 
·         Serves as a Christian role model for students, parents, administrators, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.
·         Maintains confidentiality in dealing with students, parents, administrators, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.
·         Prepares reports as requested by the Director for Daytime Admissions or Dean for Admissions including, but not limited to weekly, monthly, semester, or annual admissions/recruitment-related reports.
·         Keeps the Director for DaytimeAdmissions informed daily of activities, problems, emergencies, and occurrences in assigned areas of responsibility.
·         Attends and participates in Student Development Division and university-wide meetings, retreats and committees.

Recruitment, Marketing & Admissions 
·        Establishes and cultivates positive college relationships with Christian high schools, public high schools, guidance counselors, churches, youth pastors, community colleges, community organizations, current and prospective students, parents, and alumni for recruitment purposes.
·         Processes inquiries and manages the “first response” follow-up (e.g. mailings, e-mail, phone calls) to increase applications in assigned geographic territory or targeted student population.
·         Advises prospective undergraduate students and their parents about the admissions process and procedures.
·         Reviews undergraduate admissions files and makes admissions decisions based on published admissions standards and institutional fit.
·         Works collaboratively with other departments to ensure a smooth entry process for new students who enroll at PBA (e.g, Academic Affairs, Career Services, Dining Services, Disabilities Services, Financial Aid, First Year Experience, Multicultural Services, Registrar’s Office, Residence Life, Safety & Security, Student Accounts).
·         Assists with the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and recruitment plan for undergraduate prospective students and their parents.
·         Assists with the design and execution of recruitment and marketing events, projects and activities (e.g.  College Fairs, Campus Visit Days, Open Houses, Alumni Receptions, Parent Receptions, PBA Preview, Check-in, Welcome Week).

Professional Development 
·         Develops professionally and maintains up-to-date about marketing, recruitment, and admissions issues and trends, particularly as they relate to undergraduate students at distinctively Christian universities. 
·         Joins, attends, and participates in local, state, and national Admissions and Enrollment Management conferences.
·         Maintains relationships and conducts research/surveys with his/her network of other Admissions and Enrollment Management professionals. 

Public Relations & Christian Commitment 
·         Represents the University in a positive manner to administrators, faculty, staff, prospective and current students, parents, community members, and visitors through Christian conduct, behavior, and presentation on and off campus.
·         Demonstrates a vitality of Christian faith through student discipleship, friendship evangelism, Bible study, social ministry opportunities, and church related service.  Examples of expected involvement include: 1-on-1 mentoring, Workship projects, and missions trips. 

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS 
·         Attends university functions on campus, such as Convocations and Graduation, and represents the university at off-campus functions when necessary.
·         Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean for Admissions and/or Vice President for Student Development.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
·         Provides primary supervision for the Assistant Admissions Counselors assigned to him/her.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 
·         Ability to plan, develop, implement, market, and evaluate recruitment, marketing, and admissions programs and services for undergraduate students.   
·         Ability to advise, mentor, and motivate Christian and non-Christian undergraduate students.
·         Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
·         Excellent organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
·         High level of initiative and motivation to achieve enrollment goals.
·         Excellent computer skills, such as word processing, spreadsheets, data bases, desktop publishing, blog writing, and social networking via the Internet.
·         Ability to travel and manage an out-of-state and in-state geographic territory.
·         Valid Florida driver’s license with no vehicle violations within the past three years.
·         Understanding and commitment to achieving the University's mission and Student Development objectives through Admissions programs.
·         Proactive demeanor and willingness to explore new options for Admissions.
·         Ability to fulfill Position Description requirements in a timely and effective manner. 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE 
·         Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited higher education institution with an emphasis in Business, Communications, Marketing, Management, Leadership, Public Relations, Psychology, or a related field.
·         Prefer 2 - 3 years related experience in the college/university setting (e.g. Telecounselor, Assistant Admissions Counselor, Admissions Counselor) and/or sales experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 
·        Possess superior English Language skills, including verbal and written communications, to communicate effectively in writing; via telephone, e-mail, and Internet; to large groups; and one-on-one with administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni, business leaders, and community members.  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
·         Possess basic mathematical skills, including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, computations, ratios, and statistics for bookkeeping.
·         Possess the ability to calculate grade point average of applicants, including weighted averages.

REASONING ABILITY 
·         Possess a moderate level of reasoning ability, such as problem solving, interpreting instructions and data, and dealing with unknown variables. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
·         Possess a high energy level, along with the ability to hear, talk, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
·         Demonstrate ability to lift 35 pounds of boxed printed materials/publications. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 
·         Although normal work hours are from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., the Daytime Admissions Counselor must be flexible with his/her work schedule.  Hours vary according to the special events schedule and campus visits for prospective students which will include early mornings, evening, and weekends.

·         During the Fall recruitment season, the Daytime Admissions Counselor will travel to College Fairs, high school visits, Alumni Receptions, and Parents’ Reception in the assigned geographic territory.  S/he may be “on the road” for a few weeks at a time during the Fall recruitment season.
