Westmont Receives Huge Gift

In October, an anonymous donor gave $75 million to Westmont College (CA), the second largest gift ever for a national liberal arts college. The Santa Barbara Independent reported that the anonymous donor wishes to be recognized only as a friend of the college who believes in its mission. “Our society and the world need leaders with deep personal character and Christian commitment in addition to a broad liberal arts education,” the donor said. “I have been very impressed with Westmont students and graduates and believe that these young men and women will make a difference in the world.” 

Asbury’s Education Department ranked No. 1 in Kentucky

Asbury College recently received top rankings from the Education Professional Standards Board. The College received an “Excellent” rating and overall quality performance index (QPI) of 3.88, which is higher than all public and private colleges in Kentucky.

Roberts Wesleyan Team in Top Five

The Roberts Wesleyan College (NY) Students In Free Enterprise team placed fourth overall in the SIFE USA’s national championship in May 2007 in Kansas City, beating out more than 150 teams.  The 50-person RWU team was recognized for developing nearly 30 community service projects around the globe.

Belhaven Dances On

The Belhaven College (MS) Theatre Department has received accreditation through the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), becoming one of 135 accredited institutions in the nation. 

Dr. Daniel J. Martin

Mount Vernon Names New President

Mount Vernon Nazarene University (OH) has announced Dr. Daniel J. Martin as its sixth president, to follow Dr. E. LeBron Fairbanks, who served as MVNU’s president for 17 years. Martin is currently the vice president for University Advancement at Point Loma Nazarene University (CA) and previously worked at MidAmerica Nazarene University (KS).

 

 

David Brandt

Fox President Announces Retirement

David Brandt, the 11th president of George Fox University (OR), will retire June 30 after a four-decade career in Christian higher education.  During Brandt’s nine-year tenure, the university has grown from 2,345 students to 3,185 and now enrolls nearly equal graduate and undergraduate populations.
