Call for Presentations


Purpose:
We are seeking presentations that address the professional development needs of our members. Proposals may encompass the needs of any or all of our facets of membership including adult learners, graduate & seminary enrollment issues, matters impacting secondary school counselors as well as traditional undergraduate enrollment personnel.

Audiences:
We organize presentations into potential specific membership audiences. The audiences that we intend to reach are:

* New Admissions Counselors
* Campus Visits/Events
* Experienced Admissions Counselors
* Middle-Management
* Office Managers
* Information/Data Managers
* Senior Management
* Graduate School, Adult Learner, Degree Completion & Seminary Admissions
* High School Guidance and College Counselors
* Diversity Recruitment
* International Student Issues
* Transfer Student Issues
* Financial Aid & its Interface with Enrollment

Potential Presentation Topics:
Here is a list of potential presentation topics in which we are interested in receiving proposals. This list is not exhaustive so proposals will be accepted on other topics, but we are targeting presentations that address this list of topics first:

* Diversity
* Best practices
* Marketing
* Office teamwork
* Communication: Tele-counseling, Print, Electronic, E-counseling
* Managing wait lists
* Admissions related software/Database management
* Advancement in the field of Admissions/Enrollment Management
* Changes in college entrance exams (SAT and ACT) and their implementation
* Women in leadership
* Professionalism
* Technology (current or future)
* Middle Management Issues
* Cross-cultural & Third Culture Kid recruitment
* Issues impacting experienced admissions counselors
* Campus visits and events

Potential topics particularly germane to Graduate/Seminary/ Degree Completion Audiences could include but are not limited to:

1. Operations and office structure
2. International issues (who is doing it right and what are they doing?)
3. Technology - including how to market with technology, online programs, etc
4. managing branch campuses
5. principles of good practice
6. best practices

7. innovation and strategic planning

• Networking opportunities early in the conference dedicated to the Grad/Sem/DC folks…and advertised ahead of time
• Roundtable discussions (one offered early in the conference to provide opportunities for relationships to develop and one at the end to allow last minute questions and sharing)
• What adults want in Information Sessions, Open Houses, Orientations and Campus Visits
• Trends in Adult and non-Traditional student recruitment
• Streamlining Office Procedures (working smarter not harder)
• Multi-ethnic Recruiting tips for Grad/Sem/DC

Deadline: December 12, 2008 for consideration. Proposals selected for presentation will be notified after February 13, 2009.

**Early and timely submission is encouraged in order to finalize the conference program and notify presenters in a timely manner.

Presentation Proposal Guidelines: please submit

1. Title and abstract (200 words maximum - to be printed in the conference program). The title and abstract should include:

* Title of presentation
* The audience(s) (in many cases presentations are applicable to more than one audience) for which this presentation is most appropriate
* Name, professional title and institution/company of presenter(s)
* Abstract: Concise description of presentation

2. Purpose of the presentation (to help determine the appropriateness of the session):
* How the presentation relates to the NACCAP conference and meets a need for professional development
* The learning outcomes of the session

3. Format: Please use a word processing software (i.e. Microsoft Word) for the title / abstract and purpose

Presenter Information:
* Presenters should provide no more than a one-page (front and back if needed) handout. Presenters can utilize the NACCAP Annual Conference website to post more information.
* After the presentations are selected we will contact the presenters to confirm the resources available at Cedarville University and the A/V needs of the presenters.
* NACCAP member presenters are required to pay for conference registration.
* NACCAP will provide a modest honorarium to presenters.
