SCOPE
NACCAP offers a guidance counselor certification program, integrating collaborative, experiential learning on Christian college and university campuses. The format includes conference calls and online written assignments, including professional coaching and mentoring by expert Christian guidance professionals.
OVERVIEW
One-year program.
Introductory Session and Capstone Session are offered at NACCAP Annual Conferences (attendance required).
Two sessions are offered at member institutions across the country during each academic year (attendance required).
VISION
NACCAP's certification program is specifically designed for Christian guidance professionals. Offered in collaboration with NACCAP and select member colleges and universities, this program provides training and certification in all aspects of college admission counseling and advising.
True to NACCAP's mission, counselors are assured that experienced, quality instructors will provide an exceptional educational experience as well as personal encouragement.
MODULES
In addition to the sessions offered at the annual conference, the certificate courses include the following modules:
► M1 - The Christian College Guidance Counselor
► M2 - Relationships with Stakeholders
► M3 - Counseling the College Bound Student: Essentials
► M4 - Financial Aid Case Studies
► M5 - Counseling the College Bound Student: Essentials Advanced
► M6 - Building the Professional Toolbox (including Capstone supervision)
► Capstone Project supervised by program faculty focuses on a gap in the participant's current guidance program. If participant is moving into a guidance program for the first time, the capstone will be a portfolio of work describing the implementation of the first year in a guidance office.
Cost per person: $2,100 (NACCAP Members) $2,300 (Non-members) This cost is distributed between the six modules. Limited partial scholarships available. The annual conference registration fee and transportation is additional and attendance is required.
